For ages, people have argued about if fate and free will ever existed on earth. Fate might be two different things in people’s opinion but it still leads back to the meaning of the development of events beyond a person’s control. In William Shakespeare’s tragic love play Romeo and Juliet, two star crossed lovers go through a lot to be together but their family tore these two lovers apart. Friar Lawrence has helped a lot during the course of the two lovers coming together but fate and free will is indisputable when he tries to help. Their love for each other and death both depended of fate and free will. Their death was fate because nothing else could’ve been done and there was Mercutio that tried everything he could to fix the issues and miscommunications between two Montagues and Capulets. The Capulets and Montagues will have a fix because of this love relationship between Romeo and Juliet but now the death of them and made them hate each other other than they were before. Romeo didn’t receive the letter of what the plan was so right after he saw Juliet lying on a coffin, she thought she was sleeping but all it was just she sleeping caused from the sleeping potion. After Romeo saw that she was so called “dead” he decided to drink a death potion. The timing of Romeo’s death was fate because faith didn’t want Romeo and Juliet to see each other for the way last time. It was no accident but instead the future is what you can control and from the start they haven’t made the right decision so they ended being dead was controllable at first but they decided that they can pull it through but it didn’t work so they both ended up being dead. The future is something that is unexpected and life is full of speed bumps and you are the one who decides if you will slow down for them of speed bumps and you are the the one who decides if you will slow down for them and keep your tires perfect with minimal damage or run past them and wear them out. It’s all your choice of what you do but after you’ve decided what you want to do, there’s no going back and you won’t be able to control what happens
