No matter what Romeo does, he ends up doing things that he doesn’t want to do because of fate. He is destined to do almost everything that happens. When Mercutio gets stabbed by Tybalt, he says “I am hurt./A plague o’ both houses! I am sped.” (3.1.105-106). Mercutio is foreshadowing that something terrible will happen soon to both Romeo and Juliet. This will also be their fate because no one tried to help Mercutio in the fight against Tybalt. After Mercutio died, Tybalt comes back for Romeo. They both get into a quarrel and Romeo, in the end, murders Tybalt. Fate was the ever present watchdog, foreshadowing what happens and making the final decision. No matter what Romeo does, the outcome or the events that take place are because of fate. He was always destined to meet Juliet. It was because of fate why he saw one of his best friends die in fight against his wife’s cousin, Tybalt. Finally, Romeo was always destined to take his own life after not getting the message that Juliet and Friar Lawrence's plan worked accordingly and that Juliet survived in the tomb.
