In the play, we see that Romeo is in ‘love’ with Rosaline, although when reading the play, you will see that romeos love for her is actually just a fake love based on looks and the thought of love. At first, we learn that Romeo is very sad over Rosaline and is having a very hard time getting over her. When talking to his cousin Benvolio he explains to him how he is very sad and depressed because Rosaline does not want to be in a relationship with him but he wants to be in one with her. We then learn the reason why is because she decided to take the vow of chasity and Romeo does not like this decision.
