Love can drive people to do unimaginable things. In the life of Romeo and Juliet, everything they did was forced to be deceitful and secretive. They lived on opposite sides, meant to be enemies, but instead they found love. The dishonesty for these two lovers was never ending, from the moment Romeo snuck into a Capulet feast without telling anyone who he was, to the last few hours of their lives when Juliet lied to everyone and faked her own death. After she hears that her husband killed a member of her family, she still chooses to carry on a relationship with Romeo, despite the dangers of continuing in this direction. It is on this same night, after Juliet receives the news of her cousin’s death, that she and Romeo consummate their marriage. After Romeo leaves the following morning, Juliet learns her father has moved up her wedding with Paris and she is unable to tell him she has already married another man. If Juliet had never lied about her marriage, she might have had to go through with the marriage to Paris, but because she did betray her parents’ trust, she is forced to find a way to elude the situation. It is always said that two wrongs don’t make a right, but in Romeo and Juliet, that is the only solution they seem think works when a problem arises. Instead of taking the advice of her nurse and going through with the marriage to Paris, Juliet completely disregards the practical suggestion and flees in a desperate search for a way to save her relationship with Romeo. Juliet’s lies and secrecy lead her to Friar Lawrence, the man who married the young couple just a day before. Friar Lawrence assists Juliet in creating her biggest and final act of deception. This lie ended the life of two innocent teenagers, but it also ended years of feuding between two
