Romeo And Juliet Effect

The sun burns with a reddish tint, as the shadows of the evening grow ever deeper and darker. The crimson twilight is the boundary between day and night. It is a warning that night is coming, that darkness is looming and that the sun will be no longer present to guide us through the endless skies. The crepuscule is your only warning. Be cautious! Warning! Slippery road ahead! Like the crepuscule, we as individuals are granted countless amounts of warning signals and in spite of this what do we choose to do? We choose to cross the boundary and carelessly venture into the darkness and as the famous idiom goes some lines should not be crossed! From children, to leaders, to society as a whole if we constantly choose to ignore the warning signs …show more content…
How many times have we told a child not to move and they move anyway? The typical responses praise their naivety and purity and innocence. But what we fail to recognise their wrong doings due to their cheeky grins and wide eyes. This behaviour then evolves through adolescence to adulthood where a cheeky grin and wide eyes does not suffice as an excuse for our behaviour. The explanation for this is simple and renowned – we want what we can’t have. Dr Jeremy Dean, a renowned psychologist, calls it the “Romeo-Juliet effect” whereby greed will consumes our every thought once a barrier has been placed before us. Imagine if we all accepted out of greed and ignored all the warnings, if we did we would probably be an extinct species, and the cause of death would involve ignorance. Therefore we must not let ourselves grow ignorant. We mustn’t loose sight of the twilight before us.We mustn’t cross lines that should not be …show more content…

It is plan to see that we are putting something in the air that definitely should not be there. In The Sixth Extinction Kolbert points out that if we continue to pump carbon into the atmosphere the global temperature will increase between three and seven degrees in a few years. I can agree with the fact that we are not paying attention enough to emissions coming from out cars and we are not really trying to carpool. So again, I can see how I may be contributing to the increase in temperature which in turn is melting the polar icecaps at an alarming rate. It is not a coincidence that we are starting to have a lot of floods and tornados.…

In Shakespeare’s play, Romeo and Juliet, Romeo’s one tragic flaw was that he was overly emotional and always was going from one end of the emotional spectrum to the other. Throughout the play, Shakespeare demonstrates this flaw in Romeo’s passionate rush to falling in love, his volatile fighting, and his suicidal despair. Although depth of feeling can be admirable, Shakespeare cautions that uncontrolled emotion can be destructive. As Friar Lawrence warns, “These violent delights have violent ends” (2.6.9). Shakespeare demonstrates Romeo’s out-of-control emotions in several different contexts.…

The specific mood within literature can be difficult to decipher and re-creating that mood in a film can be even harder. The moods in Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare are layered and built up to produce a heightened mood. Franco Zeffirelli’s film adaptation of Romeo and Juliet face limitations in portraying this mood because of the abundant monologues within the play that lengthens the film, and differences between modern English and old English that cause misinterpretations. However, despite its limitations, the film adaptation properly conveys the mood of Romeo and Juliet.…

A good example to use is the famous play: “ Romeo and Juliet” by William Shakespeare. In the play, Friar Laurence agrees to marry the two star-crossed lovers in the first place. It is also Sampson's fault, he should have already knew that Romeo is an enemy to the Capulets, and thus not inviting him to the masquerade party. The nurse also played an essential role in dooming the two lovers to death.…

If we don’t try and reverse and reduce these effects, we could be seeing these effects for centuries to come. Our grandchildren could grow up without a rainforest and have to deal with rampant climate change and higher CO2 emissions. We can combat this issue by electing the correct public officials who will help and finance efforts to battle climate change. This includes the correct president, as Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton believe in and are willing to battle climate change; but Donald Trump and Ted Cruz claim that climate change does not exist and is being used for financial gain.
