Likewise, in the 1.2.13-17 spoken by Lord Capulet is a great example of Shakespeare's great word plays, since understanding his version of english helps shed new light on the tragedy.

In this line, Capulet describes Juliet as his “hopeful lady” of his earth, so Capulet could have been explaining that he has all his hope for Juliet. “my earth:” in the line can mean everything he has known and seen, so “She is the hopeful lady of my earth:” can mean that Juliet is all he has hope for in his life.
The fourth line is describing Capulet’s encouragement for Paris to make Juliet fall in love with Paris. “woo” means to try to gain the love of someone, who in this case is Juliet, so in the first part of the line Capulet is saying But gain the love of Juliet. “get her heart,” describes that Capulet is explaining to Paris to “get her heart”, or make Juliet fall in love with him. Therefore “But woo her, gentle Paris, get her heart,” can means that Lord Capulet is telling Paris to get Juliet to fall in love with him and marry

The narrative voices of male characters in several pieces of art, literature, and music are shown sharing their enthusiastic response of endearment to a woman that they love. “Michelle” was a song performed by Sir Paul McCartney in the White House for President Barack Obama and his wife, the song was written by John Lennon. In the song the main male character sings to the woman he loves. He sings to her to tell her how fond he is of her and how a normal “I love you” won’t do the job for how much he loves her. Very much similar to the song is The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet written by William Shakespeare.…

Despite explaining that girls who marry young are often later full of sorrows, and that Juliet is the only hope left in his life, Capulet tells Paris to go ahead and try to obtain Juliet’s love. Lord Capulet knows that his daughter’s consent is just as important as, if not more important than, his own. However, in order to help Juliet through her "grief" over Tybalt's death, Capulet decides to marry her off to Paris (III, iv). Of course this is a problem as she is secretly married to Romeo at this time. In III, v, Lady Capulet states, "I'll send one in Mantua, where that same banished runagate doth live, that he shall soon keep Tybalt company…" (ll94-96). This statement prophesizes Romeo's death later in the final scene of the play. Then, Lady Capulet wishes her daughter to be married to her grave (ll. 145), which is ironic, as Juliet will take a potion causing her to appear dead in IV, ii. That same evening, the lovers consummate their marriage, and in the morning, Juliet makes yet another prophesy, "O God, I have an ill-divining soul!…
