A very important point to remember is Romeo and Juliet and teenager’s of today share differences because each is in different time periods. The story of Romeo and Juliet took place in the 1500’s around the time of the Renaissance. The difference in time periods controls the differences such as technology and language. In this time period, the technology we have today was non-existent. Romeo and Juliet never had phones or other ways we use to communicate with each other. Today, all age groups take advantage of the technology we have. Teenagers today are constantly talking with their friends over social media or texting. If Romeo or Juliet had a message to send they would have a messenger deliver it to one another. The language Romeo and Juliet had used to communicate is different from the way today’s age communicates. Romeo and Juliet had used Renaissance Language and today Modern English is used. The Renaissance language has more of a poetic flow and is more proper and descriptive. Today’s modern English is blunt, harsh-sounding, and more slang is used. Romeo and Juliet and Teenagers of today’s similarities and differences follow a pattern. The main reason for all of the differences is because the characters Romeo and Juliet and teenagers today are living in different time periods. This is the cause of the differences in technology, communication, and language. The differences are more cultural and social while the similarities are about the inner teenager. When talking about the similarities, I stressed the topic of what is on the inside matters more than what is on the outside. Emotions play a stronger role in teenagers than any cultural or social role
