Romeo And Juliet Compare And Contrast

Decent Essays
When watching both Gnome and Juliet and Romeo and Juliet we can see that there is many differences when it comes to certain scenes. One of the major things is the ending, even though the both die in the regular Romeo and Juliet I still prefer that than the one in Gnomeo and Juliet. The three main things that I saw that were different among the two was; the way the movies end, how the two families learn their lesson, and finally how the two families fought throughout the movie. When watching both of the movies we can see that when it came to fighting it was very different among the two. For example, in the regular Romeo and Juliet, the two families fight with swords which ends in two characters dying. Though Tybalt dies in both movies it's only

This is because of the language, content, and ending. Romeo and Juliet is more mature, and has an advanced vocabulary. Also, Romeo suffered from his consequences by being banished and Tybalt’s death was more realistic. Furthermore, Romeo and Juliet died because they didn’t want to live without each other and they were married very early compared to Gnomeo and Juliet. Both Romeo and Juliet and Gnomeo and Juliet are similar in many ways but they are also very different.…

A difference between the 2 movies are in the newer movie Juliet suicide's with Romeo’s gun she picks up the gun a shot's it at her head. While in the older movie Juliet kills herself with Romeo’s sword she stabs herself in the abdominal area with the sword. A similarity in this event is that Juliet still dies regardless of how she kills herself and she dies with Romeo. Shakespeare's original intension of this scene was to show how much Juliet loved Romeo and how loyal she is she would even take her own life. Both movies do a good job in depicting this event but in my opinion the older movie does a better job.…

The two versions of William Shakespeare's timeless tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, by Zeffirelli and Luhrmann are similar in many ways. One of the ways that the two versions is that Zeffirelli and Luhrmann both use the same coloring in the uniforms that the Montagues and Capulet families wear. Ex, The Montagues has an orange uniform, and Capulet’s has a purple uniform in Zeffirelli’s film, and Montagues has an orange car, and Capulet has an purple car in Luhrman's film. Another way the two versions are the same, is that they both use the same wording. Ex, “No, sir, I do not bite my thumb at you sir; but I bite my thumb, sir.”…

Those movies were Gnomeo and Juliet, the 1968 version, and the 1996 versions of Romeo and Juliet movie productions. These movies differed much more than you would have thought they would. One of the first differences you notice is the difference in time periods. The time difference from the 14th century setting to a modern-day setting was not at all alarming since it was a children's movie, but the time difference weakened the effect of the 1996 version. The movie was based on a more modern age while it kept the same dialogue from the play which resulted in the movie seeming childish and portraying the directors as too lazy to update the script.…

When people hear about opposites attracting, they usually think that the opposites fall in love and ride along into the sunset but in the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, Shakespeare shows this attraction as a bridge that moves along the plot of this tragic love story. Shakespeare introduces Romeo, the male protagonist as a peaceful, loving, young adult who meets with Tybalt, a supporting character who is full of anger and loves to engage in fights. To readers, Tybalt’s storyline may seem unnecessary to the play but it actually helps all the events unfold. Shakespeare shows Romeo and Tybalt as total opposites but deep inside their characters they have so much in common. Shakespeare demonstrates their similarities by their personality…

In Conclusion, I think that Romeo is a young, inexperienced and impatient but loyal and brave boy. I think that his naivety plays a huge rule in this because love was taken as an extravagant feeling to have when it was not truly happy as the lovers can experience heartbreak and many other obstacles. It seems as if Romeo only more cautious and deliberate, his devastating ending could have been prevented (even though we have not finished the book yet). Amongst friends especially Mercutio, Romeo shows signs of his social and quick witted persona, even with his fond of verbal jousting that is mainly about sex. Lastly, Romeo is like every other male in the world who only unveils their true self to the people who they trust or who understand them.…

Shakespeare's well-known play 'Romeo and Juliet' was modernised by Baz Luhrmann and made into a substandard film, that is relative to a modern audience. Baz has done this by changing selected setting's such as the petrol station fight, whilst also changing the costumes of the characters to be more modern and modifying the interpretation of the characters from the original play. Baz Luhrmann has attempted to modify the play 'Romeo and Juliet' by changing selected setting's throughout the film.
