Romeo And Juliet Last Scene Analysis

What would happen if we replaced the classic characters of Romeo and Juliet? What if we made them athletes in the golden state of California? I decided to make Romeo and Juliet rivals on a college track team the Capulets attend Stanford while the Montagues attend UC Berkeley. The Capulets, have all gone to Stanford, therefore, they are deeply loyal to their college. The Montagues are also loyal to their college. At the same college as Juliet is Romeo’s fierce competitor; Paris. Paris is the best on his team and is Romeo’s competitor. Official Lawrence is an official at their track meets. Our scene is Act 4 Scene 1 this scene consists of Juliet, Paris, and the Official. In my scene I have chosen to portray Official Lawrence. He has been keeping the secret of Romeo and Juliet’s romance, he is worried that someone might find out that he has been helping them be together and the families will not like him. …show more content…
Friar Lawrence is known as an honest person and has been respected his whole life. To be chosen to be an official for track is not easy, especially at the college level, officials are selected by a committee. Officials have to have a lot of integrity. If people found out that he had been helping Romeo it would seem like he has been biased and he could be fired. Both families would also be angry that he has been helping the couple get together. The Official has seen Romeo and Juliet together and wants to help them be together. He is a family friend of both families, and he knows how much pain the rivalry has brought them in the past.
