Suzanne Collins, a famous author, stated “For there to be betrayal, there would have to have been trust first.” This statement is made apparent in the novel, Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare. The Nurse, once a trustworthy confidant of Juliet, ends up bearing the ultimate betrayal. Because of the Nurse’s deceptive qualities and her exhibition of disloyalty, it ultimately leads to the death of Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet.

The Nurse should be punished for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet because she was deceitful, misleading Romeo and Juliet. At first, the Nurse arranged Romeo and Juliet’s meetings and gave Juliet hope of marrying Romeo. Therefore, the Nurse was thought to be trustworthy and mother-like to Juliet. The Nurse showered

The Nurse did not counsel Juliet when she saw that Juliet was in love with Romeo, a foe of her family; instead, she aids Romeo to find a way to Juliet’s room on their wedding night. She did not bother to tell Juliet’s parents what their daughter was doing; she had approved of Romeo and Juliet’s marriage despite their families’ indifference for each other. This proves the Nurse to be guilty, She is baiting Juliet into thinking that her and Romeo could spend the rest of their lives together when she knows that will never happen because of the feud. The Nurse soon changes her mind about Romeo and all men for that matter when she states “There’s no trust, / No faith, no honesty in men. All perjured, / All forsworn, all naught, all dissemblers” (3.2.92-94). The Nurse is saying how there is no trust, no faith, no honesty in men. All of them lie, cheat, and are wicked. This exemplifies how the Nurse is quick to change her mind, crazy, and deceitful. The Nurse teases Juliet with the idea of a life with Romeo. She knows they will never have a chance to grow old together because their families are enemies, the Nurse just wants to mock Juliet’s ignorance. One second she loves Romeo and is

The Nurse was an actual caring “mother” rather than Juliet’s mother whom would’ve let her killed herself if she didn’t marry Paris. Juliet was simply put, in love with Romeo, a Montague and her parents did not like because they want her to marry Paris. As the Nurse wanted her to be happy with Romeo rather than be miserable without him and forced to marry Paris. If the Nurse wasn’t around Juliet would’ve killed herself as she would be miserable living with someone and being married to someone she didn’t love.…

While Romeo and Juliet are engaging in a deep and heartfelt conversation, suddenly the nurse interrupts the conversation moments before she steps in to Juliet’s room. As Juliet is wishing Romeo a goodbye she declares that her “bounty is as boundless as the sea/ my love as deep… Dear love, adieu anon good nurse” (2.2.140-141 & 143-144). This quote exemplifies that Juliet already claims her “boundless” “love” for Romeo; however, they have met once and only engaged in one full conversation before tonight. The time reference in this quote indicates how much time the nurse has spent with Juliet, more so than her own mother which shows the audience that the nurse is the closed confidant for Juliet. Deeper analysis reveals a maternal aspect to the relationship, seen when the nurse tells Juliet that 'thou hast sucked wisdom from thy teat ' which demonstrates to the audience that the nurse was a wet nurse and she had breastfed Juliet, this is something that the mothers in the audience can relate to as they will have likely breastfed their children so they will see that the nurse is like a mother to Juliet which suggests the nurse has two roles to fulfill. These two roles break down later on in the play as when Romeo has been banished the nurse suggests Juliet 'married with the County ' which would be an immoral thing for Juliet to do as she cannot be married twice so the nurse has crossed a moral line meaning Juliet has to become more independent and make her own decisions which shows the neurs controls how Juliet has grown up which shows the nurse 's role in the play to be a character to measure other characters by for example it…

Romeo and Juliet: Rivals by Blood LaToya Jackson once said, “I’ll never stop dreaming that one day we can be a real family together, all of us laughing and talking, loving and understanding, not looking at the past, but only to the future.” In the play, Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare, the same frustration that LaToya feels towards her non-unified family is felt by Romeo and Juliet towards theirs. For a very long time, the Montagues and the Capulets, two noble families in the town of Verona, have been feuding. Their children fall in love and feel that they need to sneak around behind their families’ backs in order to be together.…
