Parental Milestones In Romeo And Juliet

The Teenage years are important because; the milestones experienced by teenagers determined their life paths and as such, teenagers rely on parental figures to support and guide them in the right direction. The adverse influence of such parental figures are nowhere more apparent than in Romeo and Juliet when the nurse abandons her support of Juliet’s marriage to Romeo. Secondly Friar Lawrence, a dishonest priest did not fulfil his duties of a man of God, which leads him to help Romeo and Juliet. Lastly, Friar Lawrence created a solution for Juliet but was not able to commit to the plan. The nurse and Friar Lawrence as parental figures fail to protect and guide Rome and Juliet making them responsible for their poor choices and ultimately, their deaths. …show more content…
Juliet has learned throughout her early years that she can rely on the Nurse to fill this role of confidant and surrogate mother. Although Romeo is a Montague and an enemy to the Capulet’s therefore Juliet, a Capulet knows she must keep her love for him a secret. Nevertheless Juliet informs the Nurse about her new found love for Romeo. As the love between Romeo and Juliet flourishes the Nurses encourages her. I must another way,

Must climb a bird 's nest soon when its dark.”(Shakespeare 2.5.65). The Nurse tells Juliet she is going to get a rope ladder so Romeo can climb through her window; this demonstrations how the Nurse supported the relationship.
