Justice comes in many different forms. Many fictional authors like to play off this, and create characters that show justice. “To Kill a Mockingbird” is a perfect example of this. The character ATticus finds justice for a black man in their 1900’s unjust society. As the novel plays out, Atticus shows courage for standing up to a cause that many would not do.…
In “The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet”, a tragic love story about two teenagers who fall in love despite the conflict between their families. In the end Romeo and juliet, along with other characters, die. So in these tragic deaths, who is to blame? This paper will explain who or what in my opinion is to blame and why. First off Fate has a huge part in Romeo and Juliet’s deaths.…
The first Information you hear regarding Friar Laurence, obtains his love of poison and medicinal power and how when used wrong it can lead to harmful damage (And it will). Juliet obtained the sleeping potion from the Friar and it worked, sort of. Friar gives her the potion and says, “ Take this bottle, and when you're in bed, drink distilled liquor. Immediately, a cold and quieting liquid shall run through all your veins. Your pulse will stop.…
There are many people you could blame for the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, but one might also say the two households are responsible for the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. An example of how the capulets play a part in this is when lady capulet says “Marry that ‘marry’ is the very theme I came to talk of. Tell me, daughter Juliet, how stands your disposition to get married”(Line fourteen, Act one Scene three, and Document B), the person one would blame in this quote would be the families(Capulet). This shows Lady Capulet is trying to pressure Juliet into getting married. Even after juliet says that she does not want to get married, her mother keeps pushing her into getting married by asking if she can “like of Paris’ love”( Line twenty four, Act…
Friar Laurence uses poor judgement to marry Romeo and Juliet, resulting in the devastating losses of Romeo and Juliet. Friar Laurence, an adult figure Romeo trusts, knows about Romeo’s obsession with Rosaline. Friar Laurence even admits to himself that Romeo found a new love too quickly. The Friar jokes with Romeo saying “an old tear” lies on Romeo’s cheek from weeping about Rosaline (2.3.77). Romeo is only looking at the looks but not the heart of Juliet.…
In To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, we see social injustice everywhere. To Kill a Mockingbird tells the story of a lawyer and his children fighting discrimination and inequality, like how Atticus defends Tom Robinson. To Kill a Mockingbird teaches us that prejudice can affect other people’s lives drastically. For example, Aunt Alexandra tries to explain Maycomb by classifying each family by a certain trait.…
In the Robinson vs Ewell case, due to his skin color, Tom Robinson is falsely convicted of rape and sent to jail, and seeing no point of life, dies while trying to escape prison. Jem and Scout, the son and daughter of Atticus Finch, had their lives almost taken by Bob Ewell, who was infuriated about Atticus revealing his secret. Dill, who was a great friend of the Finches, had a cruel and unforgiving childhood, where he was rejected by all family members and almost killed by one of them. Throughout To Kill a Mockingbird, the character’s lives are all marked by the cruelty of injustice. To conclude, the government today has done a decent job of stopping most injustices, but many still occur in many…
To Kill a Mockingbird shows injustice through Tom Robinson’s case and how he did not get what he deserved in the end. “She knew full well the enormity of her offense, but because her desires were stronger than the code she was breaking, she persisted in breaking it." The injustice is also being shown to Mayella because of the neglect from her father.// 12 Angry Men shows what injustice was about to happen if juror eight did not stop it. “I don't understand you people. How can you believe this kid is innocent?…
In the story, Romeo, Juliet, Lady Montague, Paris, Tybalt, and Mercutio died because of accidental or intentional death. They died because of one person to blame. The person to blame is Romeo. Because he first got Mercutio killed in the fight with Tybalt.…
Maycomb’s Disease British writer Amelia Barr once said, “Injustice is a sixth sense, and rouses all the others” (A-Z Quotes). In To Kill A Mockingbird, Harper Lee, the author, displayed different cases of injustice in the cozy town of Maycomb. For instance, black women experienced inequity just because of their race. In addition, those who believed in advocating African Americans encountered persecution for their beliefs. Correspondingly, different adults in a young girl’s life attempted to take away her optimism and constraint her to behave like everyone else.…
Relationships between family and friends can bring out a passion in people that can be dangerous. In “Romeo & Juliet”, “Once Upon a Time”, and “And of Clay We Are Created” the characters go to extreme measures to care for the ones they love. Passion is defined as a strong and barely controllable emotion. When one individual can’t control their own emotions they may act out putting themselves and others in danger, as the characters in this story did.…
In a world that has racism being spread every second there is no doubt that injustice is right around the corner as well. Injustice can have a humongous impact in someone 's life and can remodel their view on society and can alter their actions in the future, which may lead them to taking actions that may harm others or themselves (eg. Suicide). Injustice is displayed in many different ways in the book 'To Kill a Mockingbird ' and some of which are not exactly straightforward. Harper Lee grew up in a time where such things such as political activists did not exist nor did the thought. Many characters in 'To Kill a Mockingbird ' have faced injustice just like how the blacks did when Harper Lee was growing up.…
The decision that I found to be particularly hasty was Romeo's decision to commit suicide. I believe that this decision was impulsive and fueled by Romeo's emotions. It lead to not only his death but his lover Juliet as well. If Romeo had been more thoughtful instead of letting his grief and desperate thoughts overwhelm him, he could of created a different ending for the play, one not as tragic. Before Romeo made such a decision, he had been waiting for Friar Lawrence in Mantua to send him news of the uplifting sorts when Balthazar had told him that Juliet had died.…
“For never was a story of more woe than this of Juliet and her Romeo.” Almost everyone has read or heard a version of Romeo and Juliet. The story is famous for its great writing and complex story line, but is also well known across the world for its tragic plot line. It causes readers everywhere to shed a tear for the beloved characters they have fallen in love with.…
Love’s Labor’s Lost (1598) by William Shakespeare shows a humorous “battle of the sexes” among members of the aristocracy. The women and men are playing the same game and both stand to lose pride; even still, the women are presented as more mature in the fact that they recognize the game for what it is. This game is not altogether without serious undertones, either, as both men and women show an inability to properly communicate. As for how serious this “battle” is, the characters seemingly do not stand to lose much.…
