The sorrowful and depressive traits of The Woman are presented to us in a manner that is foreign to those who don’t know it, and intensely daunting to those who do. As well as this matter, the husband is presented to not understand what she is facing, thus highlighting the emotional isolation she felt on more of a personal level. The narrator states, “The sight of them made her so sad and sick she did not want to see them ever again. She told the husband these thoughts. He was attuned to her; he understood such things.…

There are many people you could blame for the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, but one might also say the two households are responsible for the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. An example of how the capulets play a part in this is when lady capulet says “Marry that ‘marry’ is the very theme I came to talk of. Tell me, daughter Juliet, how stands your disposition to get married”(Line fourteen, Act one Scene three, and Document B), the person one would blame in this quote would be the families(Capulet). This shows Lady Capulet is trying to pressure Juliet into getting married. Even after juliet says that she does not want to get married, her mother keeps pushing her into getting married by asking if she can “like of Paris’ love”( Line twenty four, Act…

Being forced to abandon a safe haven can cause one to hopelessly cling to the memories created there. In Gerda Klein’s memoir, All But My Life, she and her family are forced to leave their house. In this excerpt, she wanders throughout her garden for one last time. She then starts to reminisce about all the memories created there and realizes that her life will never be the same again, she has truly lost the innocence that her childhood once possessed. The town lay nestled within the hills, quiet and secluded. Trade rarely arrived from the broad river that flowed through the middle of town, and the merchants that came with them were businesslike and quiet. No one had dared to follow the river’s meandering path, nor did anyone desire to do so. And such, when Captain Tory first arrived, curious questions and rumors swirled about him. The voices of children posited simple inquiries and feverishly tangled theories while parents watched and tacitly mused over the oft-exaggerated nature of a sailor’s tales.…
