The scene begins with Capulet and County Paris, a kinsman of the Prince, followed by Peter, a servant. Paris suggests Capulet and Montague to form an alliance because they both have honorable reputations. But Capulet has taken an oath, so has Montague. Then, Capulet suggests getting her 14 years old daughter, Juliet, in two more summers. Capulet gives Paris a permission to make her love him and marry him if she please. They organized a feast where Paris can meet Juliet there. Capulet gives Peter a list and go find the people all around Verona, city they live in, and tell them they are invited at his house tonight. The only problem is that Peter can’t read and then, he finds Benvolio and Romeo where Romeo helps Peter read and understand the list. Peter is thanking him and inviting him to the feast, not knowing that Romeo is a Montague. When Peter leaves, Benvolio tells Romeo that his lover, Rosalina, is going to be at the Capulet’s feast. So Benvolio suggests going to the feast and meet other beautiful women and understand that Rosaline is not the best anymore. It's a way to make Romeo forget about Rosaline and think about other women …show more content…
Lady Capulet wants to discuss a matter with Juliet. While the Juliet’s nurse tells them how she feeds Juliet from her breast when she was a baby. The nurse tells about the time when she was feeling Juliet and an earthquake happened, and how she starts to walk and then run. Nurse’s husband catches her and asks her that if she will fall backward, have sex, when she grows smarter. Then, Lady Capulet tells Juliet about her marriage proposal to Paris. She agrees to meet him, but not decided if she wants to marry him.
