How much land did the Romans own? The Romans sought to rule the entire world as they knew it at the time. The Roman Empire was the most powerful empire in ancient times because of how the Romans gained and distributed their land,their clever battle strategies,and how their government responded to problems. In 509 B.C. the Romans took out the Etruscan kings and people(Corbishbley 10).Then the Roman Empire began.Legend tells us that Rome was created by Romulus.It also says that he was the first leader(Corbishley 10).Rome was a city in middle Italy(Macdonald 6).It was the earths most powerful empire(Macdonald 6). The Roman Empire was the greatest in 117 A.D.(Bingham 5).Slowly,the Romans took control of all their enemies and won control of Italy(Bingham 5).By 300 B.C. Rome was a wealthy city,but it was surrounded by enemies(Bingham 5).Where the Romans captured,they set up villages that were similar to Rome(Bingham 6).After they set their land the introduce the Roman way of life(Bingham 6).
The main Roman God was Jupiter(Bingham 37).Jupiter was in charge of thunder and lightning(Bingham 37).During the first century in A.D. the Roman poet Ovid wrote a collection of poems on the legends of Gods(Bingham 37).Until the time of the late Roman Empire,most people worshiped a range of different gods(Bingham 36).Other gods were friendly household spirits who the Romans believed that they watched over them(Bingham 36).In the Roman territory of the Middle East, many people's religion was to be Jewish(Bingham 36).Priests killed cows,sheep,pigs and doves on an open altar in front of churches(Bingham
