Romantic Relationships In It Happened So Fast By Mark Haines

Basic human natures steer a large majority of things that go on in societies. Most humans are searching for a compatible romantic relationship. Peoples motives are different from others with some focused on a more rapid lustful affair versus a relationship built on mutual adoration and emotional connection. Like most anything, there are many variables which determine the path and conclusion a relationship can take. In a dance piece titled “It Happened So Fast”, choreographed by Mark Haines, two dance couple illustrates different combinations and conclusions romantic relationships can take. Markeith Wiley, Heather Stockton, Javier Baca and Sara Loder danced to the song “Tarantella” by Ethel on May 19, 2006 at the Landis Performing Arts Center, Riverside Community College Campus. With each step with their shoulders thrust back accenting their simultaneous movement. Reaching center center each dancer spins clockwise on their right foot with arms out to their side slightly angled to the ground like the slope of an umbrella top. The dancers executed this move in a beautiful unison. Markeith steps stage left toward Heather, who whispers in his ear in a sentimental exchange of emotion that is necessary in a loving relationship, as he orbits around her. The dancers separate to dance in different areas of the stage representing the straying paths humans may take from one another. In different corners of the stage the dancers continue to move locomotor with curved shapes to a moderate tempo to the sound of silence but choose to reunite on a bench center center. The couple shows their mutual attraction and obligation as they sit with their arms on one another and foreheads touching like the petals of a blooming rosebud caressing one
