The authors made a survey with subjects of college students and adults. Participants were asked on how often do they communicate via different communication channels. During the research, they find that both oral channel and written channel function positively to relationships. People’s personal needs influence the choice of communication channel used in LDRS. It examines whether long-distance couples experience greater intimacy or not. They simplify intimacy as an interpersonal process includes self-disclosure and perceived partner disclosure. They conduct daily online surveys among college student couples for more than one week. The results of the study show that in the process of developing perceived partner responsiveness the LD status enhances mediating effects. What’s more, the result also shows that LD couples are willing to do more self-disclosure which build more trust and further enhances the intimacy
