Romans 12:9-21 seems to be a disconnected sequence of commands, but a closer examination reveals that these verses demonstrates what love looks like in the Christian life. Genuine love is the common thread that runs throughout this entire passage and where Paul fleshes out the love commandments of Jesus Christ. Before we dive deep into the passage, I first would ask that you pause for a moment and think about: What is Love? or What it looks like? Then I ask that you identify relationships where you need to grow in love—it may be a family member, a peer, a neighbor, or a person at church. Christian love is to be manifested here as well. Paul addresses how to love those outside our Christian community, by living in such a way that nurtures harmonious relationships: Love speaks well of its persecutors. Genuine love does not show partiality to persons. Love is not deceitful. Love does not attempt to get even. Love is an unlimited thing to most of us and the greatest gift we can give to one another.

Jesus Christ spent a great deal of time inspiring people towards love by helping the outcasts, the poor, the sick, the lonely and sinners. He loved deeply and was motivated by love and calls us to follow him and do the

Christian’s are constantly being tempted beyond belief in today’s society. This temptation can stem from the smallest things to the largest things, but whatever the temptation is, we as Christians must constantly be alert and ready to brace ourselves against this temptation at all times. Sadly, most Christians aren 't fully aware of who or even what is tempting them. They are oblivious to the fact that creatures outside the realm of what we can see may be pushing us toward that very temptation that we are trying to avoid. This is called spiritual warfare.…

The theme of love lies at the heart of the Fourth Gospel, pervading every aspect of the book. The Synoptic Gospels focus on the theme as well, but in John’s Gospel Jesus directs his disciples to love God and their neighbor, based on Deuteronomy 6:4–5 and Leviticus 19:18. In John’s Gospel, Jesus’s only command for his disciples is to love one another (15:12), and he assures the reader that God loves those who keep his commandments (14:21, 23). John points to Jesus’s death as an example of the type of love that Jesus expects his disciples to have (cf. 3:16; 15:13). Love in the Gospel of John argues that to understand John’s concept of love requires understanding more than what Jesus taught in the Gospel.…

How Christian Discipleship Influences Romantic Love How does Christian discipleship influence how Christians view and think about romantic love from the way our contemporary culture sees it? Secular American culture tends to define romantic love as elation, a “feeling" that one gets when one sees a man or a woman that one deems “attractive.” It is what movies and popular books might portray as love at first sight, when one is walking down a street and sees someone, their eyes meet and the next thing you know they are dating or “in love.” One example of this type of infatuation is in the movie, “Titanic.”…
