Motivated Love….
Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. Romans 12:21 (ESV).
If you look today at the headlines and internet about the news much of it has a negative, scandalous, gossipy, harrowing taste to it. It invokes fear and worry and hurried-thought of anxiety. It builds tension and chronic fatigued that displaces our normal daily activities. The more we see suffering the less we see goodness, hope and even love, now who do you think creates such a mandate? There is still so much good out there, we just have to look for it. Genuine love is the deepest theme in this section of Romans. Paul idea for Christ-like love, starts off saying “Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good” Romans 12:9. Love is

What my husband's advancement to Chief Petty Officer means to me? The answer of that question could be 10 pages long or I could just resume what I feel in one word, "extremely proud", well I guess two words. I met Christian 16 years ago, he was full of energy, funny, and he had the ability to turn any sad or bad situation into a joke making everybody laugh; that is what make me fell in love with him. On the other hand, he was a little immature, unfocused when it comes to work, and nothing seemed to fulfill his expectations. I always knew that his passion was a career in the military, but that was out of question in my book!…

The word “Temple, “or “dwelling,” was usually used by the Jews to donate the body as being the place to stay for the spirit Corinthians 5:1. Christians are usually called the temple of God as being those in whom the Holy Spirit dwells on earth, 1 Corinthians 3:16 tells us and even called His body the temple according to the common language and more particularly because in him the fullness of the Godhead dwelt bodily,”, Colossians 2:9. The temple at Jerusalem was the suitable dwelling-place of God. His visible presence was there more especially manifested 2 chronicles 36:15, psalm 76:2. As the Lord Jesus was Divine – as the fullness of God dwelt in him so that His body might be called a “Temple”…

Structural Relationships of Romans 8:1-17 Structural Relationships: Recurrence: “Law” Language Law of the Spirit of life in Christ (v 2)/ Law of sin and death (v 2)/ Law (v 3)/ Just requirement of the Law (v 4)/ God”s Law (v 7) Paul makes it clear that the the good news is still supported by law; it is not an anarchical system where people can do whatever they want, and God acts arbitrarily. Once the Jew relied upon the written law of Moses, Paul shows here that there is still law, it just looks different than what was originally thought. Recurrence: “Spirit” Language Life in accord with the spirit (vv 4, 5, 10)/ Mind in accord with the spirit (v 6)/ Being in the spirit (v 9)/ Spirit in us (v 11)/ Actions we perform by the spirit/led…

The Holy Bible is the only literature that continues to challenge me. The bible is made of two different texts, the first focuses primarily on the Hebrew Bible and is called the Old Testament, while the second New Testament, focuses on Jesus's many teachings and actions; both these texts are believed in the Christian faith, but it has been the New Testament that has challenged me the most lately. Faith, that's one of Jesus's many teachings, he says with faith as small as a mustard seed you could move mountains, but is that as easy as it sounds? To have faith that small seems like an easy feat, but for me it is the hardest challenge I could hope to overcome. The worst part of this challenge is that I don't want to believe my faith is so…

“Set your affections on things above; love one another; commune at the table of our Lord in one spirit; worship in spirit and in truth; and if daily adoring, imploring, and living the divine Life, Truth, Love, thou shalt partake of the bread that cometh down from heaven, drink of the cup of salvation, and be baptized in Spirit,” wrote Mary Baker Eddy in 1898 (Christian Science Versus Pantheism). Mrs. Eddy (as she is colloquially referred to by her followers) was the woman who came to found the Christian Science religion, based on the metaphysical New Thought movement, in 1879 (Christian Science, “What is Christian Science?”). For individuals who are born into the modern Christian Science church, understanding the concept of “divinity” in the…

In this essay, I will be talking about what I believe to be true from what Jesus tells us in the Bible, about being the Son of God and how He was here to die on the cross for our sins, showing everyone who He was and who ever believe in Him is save, or healed if they were sick. In this paper, I will be talking about the trustworthiness and historicity of the Gospels. The historical reliability of the Gospel accounts of Jesus’ miracles, and did Jesus claim to be God. Did his disciples believe he was God? The accuracy of the resurrection accounts in the Gospels, that is, did Jesus rise bodily from the dead?…

"So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God" (James 1:19, 20). There are many thoughts and ideas regarding this reference of Scripture and often times, it is taken out of its context. The Apostle James had much to say to the "dispersed" regarding their walk as disciples of Christ, much of which is relevant for Christians until this day; via the Holy Spirit, James rebuked, encouraged, and admonished Christians to live out the Word of God without hypocrisy, favoritism, and without doubting. He wanted the disciples of Christ practice the faith by living the Word, speaking the Word, and doing the Word. Regarding the Word of God, Christians…

Brett Triggs Professor Mark Moore Bible 104-02 02 October 2014 Life and Times of Paul the Apostle One of the most influential people in the New Testament, only overshadowed by Jesus, is the apostle Paul. Paul, formerly known as Saul, is the sole writer of thirteen of the twenty-seven books in the New Testament. I am researching the life and works of the apostle Paul so that I can learn about the great works that God can do through a converted sinner. This is important to learn how God can use anyone to do his great works and to help create and strengthen a belief that even a sinner like me can do great works for God.…

I would say the main theme of the Bible is, “This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life (Jesus) and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, (Jesus) so that you and your children may live and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the Lord is your life, and he will give you many years in the land he sworn to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.” (Deuteronomy 30:19-20 NIV) ‘Don’t you get it?…
