Being a spoil of war would happen when places were defeated, and the people in the population were taken in to do work. Others turned their selves in for money and were known as a bond-servant (Some Initial Reflections). In Galations, we learn that slaves were very well educated compared to others and even helped in teaching the younger generation. Galations 3:24 says, “24: Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. 25: But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster” (KJV Bible). These schoolmasters were often times tutors according to Bible scholars, and they were also referred to as a tutor, disciplinarian, or guide for the children that they were to help …show more content…
This comes to me as a shocking thing to learn, because of my previous recollection of how the Jews of the USA were treated. God used slaves in the Roman world to help in His ministry, and spread His word to others. Although, being owned by another person is not something that seems like a good thing, God always has a plan and a will for each and every one of us. He worked in the Roman world slave owners and taught them the basics in how to treat others with respect to earn it back. We should remember this today, and apply it to our lives to better live for Christ. And we should remember that in the hardest times, even when we feel we are held captive, that God is ALWAYS there for us and He will never leave us alone to fend for
