The concept of the arch and concrete was seen as significant as the dwelling places in Rome. They were used to solidify and modify the Roman edifices. An arch is a made of stone, brick, concrete, steel with a curved shape. It supported and strengthened the Roman's buildings thereby making them strong. The last block inserted in an arch is the key stone known as the center stone. They mostly consist of wedge-shaped blocks (Cary and Scullard, 1975). When arches are made, they are supported by a wooden frame.
The arches have been in use since the ancient historical time even before the Roman discovery and usage. In the Roman culture, the important significant role of the arch was to support structures. Though the discovery and usage by the Egyptians

The volcanic sand and lime were mixed to create to produce a very strong and durable type of concrete. These types of arches were made to support a lot of weights due to its compatibility and strong nature. Arches made of concrete are very strong that it could help the Romans to build aqueducts for the provision of water to the cites. It increased and expanded the works of art and architectural works as well. This Roman discovery of the new method of producing strong and reliable arch went round the neighboring countries. The technical knowledge gathered from the production of the Roman arch was also applied in the production of a roof or ceiling called a dome (Mark, 2009). It was used in building the Roman Pantheon. The arches vault was further developed to the level by which it helped in the accomplishment of mansions like Gothic cathedral and state lines of the US Capitol building in Washington. It is obvious that none of the edifices and presidential mansions would be realized without the arch, vault and dome. Many of the tourist buildings in this world have elements and features of this Roman arch and concrete.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the Roman arch was able to solve a lot of human and architectural problem of seeking for a way to hold and support large weights. It helps people to construct and build different kinds of buildings and dwelling places without fear of inadequate support and strong-holds. It helped people to construct larger and more varied buildings. The invention of the Roman arch and its development of vault and dome have made great impact in the world's architectural works.
