When we take a look back at all the great empires that ruled throughout history, seldom does someone go too long without making reference to either the Han Empire or the Roman Empire. Both of these empires shared a lot in common and both set a precedent for great leadership and imperial dominance throughout history. However, while these empires had a great deal of similarities, they were also separated by several outstanding differences. Although, with great distance in between the two Empire’s and the lack of communication to hear or learn about one another tactics, it is surprising to see how similar their methods became. The Roman Empire, however, set up their colonies at militaristic outposts that were not intended for the citizens of the public, but rather soldiers of the army. Another difference, was the language used among these colonies to communicate. The Han, required Mandarin to be spoken by its citizens, while the Romans, tried to adopt a language system of Latin. Both the Han and Roman governments took an active role in economic activity to help control order of the Empire (Guojuan, 2008, p. 1). All of these tactics used help create an engaging, innovative society for the citizens of both Empires. Both Empires used there bureaucracy as means to colonize major cities, leading to dominance by their respected Empire throughout new territory. In conclusion, both the Han Empire and the Imperial Roman Empire share many similarities within their military and use of a bureaucracy style of governing. Despite being far away in distance and completely unrelated to one another, the two powerful empires used the same methods to gather respect and territory. Their similarities provided leaders with a blueprint on how to be successful as an emperor during that time period. All in all, both the Roman and Han Empires were extremely fascinating regions that garner respect from
