You have to have courage to stand up to bullies in your school. In Mildred D. Taylor’s book, Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry, Stacey has to show courage. He showed courage when he helped TJ get home when he was hurt and when he helped put out the fire.

Stacey had to be courageous the night TJ showed up badly hurt. In chapter 11 TJ went to the Logan’s house after he had been beaten very badly by R.W. and Melvin. When he got there he said “ Help me, Stacey. Help me get home… I can’t make it by myself.” R.W. and Melvin took TJ to the Barnett Mercantile to get him the pearl handled pistol, but ended up killing Mr. Barnett during the robbery.
