Courage Is Important

Courage is not defined by age rather defined by action. Throughout the novel, Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry By Mildred D. Taylor, Cassie is the most courageous person in the book. She stood up against Mr. Barnet, She helped get revenge on the bus, She stood up against LIllian Jean. Courage is Important When you need to stand up for others. Would you risk getting hung? Cassie risked getting hung when should stood up against Mr.Barnet at the Murkantie. She understood why he would stop helping them to help a adults but when he stopped helping them to help a white girl she didn't feel it was fair. “I think you forgot, but you was waiting on us ‘fore you was waiting on this girl here...” (Pg.111) She argued with him and got kicked out of the store. Cassie didn't want to apologize but Big Ma made her. “Big Ma said i had to.” (Pg.122) Uncle Hammer went after Charlie Simms for shoving Cassie in the road. She didn't think it was very fair whites could just hit and boss blacks around. (Pg.113) “That ain't enough. Get down in the road.”(Lillian)
“You crazy?” (Cassie) Not everyone is above you but there is still people that you have to suck up to. Would you like to be splashed everyday? Cassie got splashed a lot. Cassie and her brothers had to stop the splashing some how, so they made a plan. They had to skip lunch (Pg.50) “It’s gonna take us all lunch hour.” this meant their plan is going to take a while. It was raining so they dug a hole for the bus to fall in on each side of the road. The white kids now had to walk.
