This is possible only if they are actively involved in politics. Student politics often nurture young leaders – who are not only aware of the issues at the ground level but are also able to establish a connection with the youth. Most of the political leaders of the country are very old – decision making is slow, often archaic methods of governance are followed, and there is no connect with the modern day problems of the common man. This can be changed only when the young, enthusiastic students join active politics. If the students are initiated into the political process at an early stage only then they would have first-hand knowledge of the situations and conditions prevailing in the country. Student leaders and student political wings are often observed to be serving personal agendas and nothing else. Even political parties support these student wings for their personal gains. Student political groups are seen to resort to all sorts of methods to gain popularity and support – their purpose is merely gaining power, and nothing substantial is done to address real issues. Politics has become synonymous with misuse of power – something that can easily corrupt the minds of young students and create more problems for the society in general.
