Captain America was written in 1940 though Steve Rogers was born in 1920. The comic was written by two Jews, and their religion is crucial for this study because it changes their approach of propaganda. In 1924, Mein Kampf written by Adolf Hitler is published and spreads racist and anti-Semite ideas, it was the very first time propaganda was used for such a purpose and it proved to be very effective. Indeed, propaganda helped the Nazi party maintain their power and communicate their policies through art, music, theater, films, radio, educational materials, books and the press. Once in power in 1933, the Nazi Party manipulated the media to normalize discrimination against Jews, Romani, homosexuals, Bolsheviks and what they called degenerate art, but also encouraged passivity against the different measures they took. Steve Rogers is a good man and he was chosen, a recurrence in the Torah. The serum he took only enhanced his abilities, the good becomes great in his case, while Johann Schmidt’s bad becomes worse. Furthermore, this character is also known as Red Skull. Not only is this surname a reference to communism but the symbol of HYDRA, the organization under his command, comes from Nazis. Simon and Kirby wanted to fight in their own ways and make a statement, that good people, no matter where they came from, no matter their strength, or their colours, could be heros if they fought for the right thing. In The First Avenger, Bucky Barnes is upset about Steve’s persistance and his excuse for trying so many times to enlist. Indeed, the latter tells him he doesn't feel right knowing people are fighting in a war while he works as an artist in his safe country.
