It has been able to start revolutions and bring people together. However, I feel as though that music videos do not play as big of a role in our society as they used to. Sadly, MTV has turned into a reality television phenomenon rather the traditional music television it once was. This is partly due to new technology and having access to music 24-7. Yet, the fundamental purpose of a music video hasn 't changed. It is a way for artists to push their music out and represent how they interpret the song. I feel there are a lot of factors that go into why there haven 't been any Jazz or classical music videos being produced in recent years. The problem is that music videos aim to please a younger crowd while most people who listen to jazz do not fit into the young demographic. This is because jazz has transitioned from folk music genre to a popular music genre and is now considered an art form. People nowadays do not have the time to sit around to really listen to music. Our society is so hung up on catchy chorus lyrics and techno beats that we sometimes lose the fundamental art of music. The problem is that jazz music does not fit in the audience of most video watchers. As I said before a music video is intended for a younger middle class where jazz is consumed by mostly the upper class. I think that if people started to make music videos for jazz music it could definitely boost its popularity. People are so accustomed to comparing jazz to only the upper class stereotypes and it is time to make a change. By targeting jazz music at younger kids it would definitely solve the comparison issue. The production of jazz or classical music videos would be a way for more people to hear and view the material. More people will then be listening to the music therefore it will rise in
