In that story Odysseus goes on a twenty year journey to return home after the trojan war. He goes on various adventures trying to return home after being cursed. Through the Odyssey, Odysseus shows us that he is brave, strong, smart, arrogant, and he can get out of just about every situation. His bravery is shown when he is fighting a cyclops and when he was fighting the sea monster. Odysseus has fought many creatures and men, and still live to make it home. At times, Odysseus was arrogant and angry. The whole reason he could not return home was because he couldn’t handle the cyclop not knowing that it had been Odysseus who defeated him. Going from place to place, getting mixed up in fighting and monsters he knew how to get out of all of those situations. Maria Mitchell and Shane both do not give up easily, are brave, and do what they think is right. Maria did not stop when people gave her a hard time for fighting for women's rights, nor when women typically did not become scientists. Shane did not give up when he was fighting the cattle ranchers in the bar, or when he had to kill the cattle ranchers. Maria believed women had rights as well as men, so she fought for them. Shane knew he had to kill the cattle ranches, even if he did die or have to leave
