Cigarette smoking is a universal health hazard. It is considered one of the leading causes of preventable death around the world (Morrell, Skarbek & Cohen, 2011). It is responsible for numerous adverse outcomes and diseases related to tobacco use.
Tobacco use is one of the leading causes of death in the United States. It represents the single most important preventable health hazard worldwide. In the United States, cigarette use is considered the leading cause of death among adults. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported that cigarettes are accountable for around 440,000 deaths yearly (Goodwin, Keyes & Hasin, 2009). This method will be applied for students at ISU. Team members will seek permission from university to acquire students’ phone numbers and communicate with students regarding this matter. Once permission granted, students that agree to be in list will receive a weekly text that include information related to smoking cessation method, medication approved for smoking cessation and tips that help them quit smoking. This method of communication can provide another outlet for reaching out to young population. First, it is very important to receive feedback from participants (external stakeholder) regarding their opinion about the contents provided through social media platform and web pages. Survey will be sent to all users of social media and web pages. For example, users of Facebook page will be able to provide their feedback regarding the contents of the page and the topics discussed within the page. In addition, users will be able to indicate their progress to quit smoking. Users will be able to provide suggestions and recommend topics of interest that are related to smoking
