Inequality is the existence of unequal opportunities and reward for different social positions on statuses within a group or society. My topic is about India and its power and inequality. I chose this because I see people all the time being judged on their own community/race. Therefore, I had a couple a question that I needed to be answered: Why are mostly women and children belittled in India? Why is there so much inequality? Do men really take advantage of their power in India? Will the conditions for women in India ever change? How have the women fought back their rights?

Although as I read more the women and men have differences on marriage. In the families the men have more of the say so in the marriage than the women do. The Indian men have the choice of divorcing their wives if she the wife hasn’t bore him a son. I mean, to me that is a lot, but it is so that the family of the man may carry on their family name. Then it is said that a man should be more educated than the women band if she is smarter than the man then she is taught and a very young age to keep her mouth closed. Most of these children have childhood trauma because some of those small towns in India still follow by old customs such as stoning people to death. For kid to see that mess up their child development. Also a quote stated by the UNICEF “Such violence can affect the normal development of a child impairing their mental, physical and social being. In extreme cases abuse of a child can result in death.” Therefore, these children being around with such things occurring causes them to grow up and believe violence is okay and its not. “Neglect or negligent treatment is the purposeful omission of some or all developmental needs of the child by a caregiver with the intention of harming the child. This includes the failure of protecting the child from a harmful situation or environment when feasible.” If the parents actually didn’t have such customs and power wasn’t of importance, then these children would be safe.
