Core Beliefs Hondros, like any other institution created and sustains itself around a set of core beliefs. Those beliefs can be best examined by reading through their mission statement. According to the Hondros Student Catalog, the mission of Hondros College is to provide education to a diverse population through both traditional and non-traditional means by providing the best quality education they can to help students meet their career goals. They also strive to help their students serve the communities they live in by offering academic programs such as nursing through the baccalaureate level. While student, teacher, support staff, advisors, or administration may tightly define our roles, each of us fulfills numerous statuses within the confines of the Hondros world. Those statuses are both ascribed and achieved. For a student some ascribed roles can be female, male, LPN, young, older, Caucasian, African American and others. Achieved statuses can be numerous as well: honor roll student, friend, team player, positive influence, negative influence and teacher’s pet. The faculty and administration also can acquire many statuses while fulfilling their roles in this micro-community. Their ascribed roles could encompass female, male, instructor, young, old, knowledgable, and “by-the-book.” They too have achieved statuses they bring to the table such as, PhD, Master’s degree nurse, NCLEX expert, and best instructor. Hondros and all of the providers who allow us to attend their campuses to gain experience each get a benefit from the cooperation achieved by clinical rotation. Hondros attains the ability to provide its students with the required clinical hours to earn their degrees as RNs and to sit for the NCLEX. The facilities that allow us to complete clinicals onsite can preview the quality of the nurses being educated at Hondros and perhaps fulfill of their staffing needs with the graduates they help generate through Hondros.
