Prometheus the Egoist According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, the word ‘ego’ means the self especially as contrasted with another self or the world. In our society being in egoist is considered wrong. We are taught that having a ‘big ego’ means you are full of yourself. In the book Anthem by Ayn Rand the main character, Prometheus, is an egoist. According to our society, this is a bad thing; according to the world in Ayn Rand’s novel, this is a bad thing. However, being an egoist isn’t always a bad thing.
