Determination in Night and Sold Determination, having willpower, to be positive when rough times come along. The measures people go to stay alive are incredible. Going through the most dreadful experience to make it out strong is what some people might think is impossible, when all it takes is determination. Two characters, Lakshmi and Elie from the novels Sold by Patricia McCormick and Night by Elie Wiesel face hard times which causes them both to face towards sacrifice and determination to survive at a very young age. By examining both novels Night and Sold we can see that determination is the key to survival, which is important because often times people who don’t have the will power within themselves to survive.
