Although, the traditions might be altered in some various form or another they are still passed down to any subsequent generations. The most common celebration that is recognized and observed around the world, is Christmas. Although, there is debate where the holiday was started it is suggestive that the first celebration was in the Roman Empire, as a pagan holiday. In America and around the world it is customary to decorate a pine tree, with lights and ornaments. The Christmas tree was first started in Germany by the Vikings, they believed the evergreens were a gift from their sun god. Another holiday that is celebrated in America, that was influenced by another ethnicity is St. Patrick’s Day. On March 17, every year Ireland is celebrated along with St. Patrick who was a Christian minister that brought Christianity to Ireland during the fifth century. Cinco De Mayo is celebrated because of a victory the Mexican army won over the French in the 1800s. Throughout the country, it is apparent what social group has settled in what parts based on the food that is available. Hot dogs that is a staple food of America, was influenced by the bratwursts of Germany. The first documented producers of beer were in Iraq. In America, the indigenous people had their own recipe for beer, without the barley. The Netherlands and Great Britain brought their own recipe of beer, however, Germany was the first mass producer of their version in America. Octoberfest is a tradition from Munich that is celebrated in America. Throughout the country there are lots of examples of ethnic foods that have been mixed with other flavors, such as Tex Mex, which is a combination of Spanish and Mexican
