Critical thinking and ethics go hand in hand. It determines your personal boundaries. It constructs the way you may analyze a situation. Critical thinking sets your ethical lens. You may hold some blind spots which goes against your ethical lens or cause by your ethical lens. We all have an inventory of what to do and not to do in our lives. Introduction
Critical thinking is the looking beyond the simple facts to get an answer and ethics is the boundaries you set for your self. I read an article by Nick Melillo that says critical thinking plays a large role in ethics because it is the process by which we determine for ourselves whether or not something is right or wrong. In a way, our ethical lens sets the way we problem solve. We may choose to go around some thing because it goes against our moral code that we live by. For example, a person who believes that abortion is wrong in any circumstance may feel even a rape victim should not get the procedure done because it is wrong and their ethical lens will not let them do so. We all have principles we decide to live by whether it’s determined by the religion we choose to abide by or just the way we were raised. As I play my role in society, I lean more towards the Democratic Party. I am pro-choice because I feel as a man that I should not have any participation in what a woman chooses to do within a reasonable window before that fetus becomes a viable baby. I believe long prison sentences without actual rehabilitation is a detriment to our civilization as a whole. I believe in universal healthcare which is our right as human beings.
