Role Of Costume In The Capulets

Decent Essays
The element of production which is costume emphasizes a huge role. It emphasizes a huge role because when to viewers see the costume it sets the personality of the character for the entire production. For example throughout the entire production the Montagues wear very casual clothes they wear sandals, shorts, and an open button up. The way the director decided to dress them says a lot because the viewer’s think that the Montagues are very relaxed and are always getting into trouble. The way he decided to costume the Capulets was very different from the way he dressed the Montagues the director dressed the Capulets very extravagant. The ladies wore long dresses and the gentlemen dressing very

On the evening of Saturday October 8th, the cast of the play Fuddy Meers took the stage and put on a unique and exquisite performance. The play took place in the Temple Theatre which I found was a highly interesting venue. There were several different elements that I found greatly intriguing during the course of the ninety minute performance, however, there were a few elements that I felt were also lacking. The first element that I believed helped to add significance to the performance was the stage setup(1). The revolving setup of the stage was perfect for this play and it allowed much versatility for the characters during specific instances.…

The two clips I chose to compare and contrast were an NYC jazz and contemporary company’s performance of “Steam Heat” choreographed by Lisa Donmall-Reeve and Lindsey’s Stirling’s performance of a Les Miserables medley. Both clips exhibited a high degree of musicality and grabbed my attention almost immediately. They incorporated lighting and costuming with an incredible mastery to enrich the performance. I highly enjoyed the music that accompanied both dances and thought that the choreography worked well with the music. While both works of art have incredibly interesting and complex choreographic elements there are important dissimilarities as well as points of comparison.…

I recently enjoyed the Frisco Community Theatre production of EVITA the musical. The message I took in while watching this play is follow your dreams no matter what. This message was perhaps very clear to the audience because the main character would not settle for anything less even though she was getting backlash for stealing the love interest of another character. The directors, actors, and designers were very distinguished in transporting us to where the story takes place.…

The second reason for Lady Capulet’s struggles to help her family is her impulsive husband. Her efforts to save the family from disasters are struck down by Capulet. First time we see evidence of this is at the time of the first brawl, where in response to Capulet’s request for his sword, lady Capulet says “A crutch, a crutch! Why call you for a sword”(1.1 177) she does not want her husband to join the fight, because it will anger the prince and danger his life but he ignores her, and goes on to fight anyway without thinking about the consequences, therefore causing the family even more troubles. Keeping in mind Capulet’s age and the Prince’s displeasure, Lady Capulet makes one more desperate attempt to her husband she tells him, “…

The play “The Liar” by Pierre Corneille, is a French comedy and love play that was first performed in 1644. Based on The Suspicious Truth by Mexican-Spanish playwright Juan Ruiz De Alarcon, Corneille abruptly produced his comic masterpiece. It starts off by introducing a young promiscuous young man who has come to Paris after claiming he has returned from the wars in Germany. Throughout the play Dorante continuously tells preposterous lies, getting himself into trouble. The new alteration of the play performed at Blinn’s Bryan Campus Theatre Department, “The Liar” by David Ives, incorporates many of the original aspects of The Liar, as well as incorporating many modern twists to the play.…

Capulet causes the deaths of Romeo and Juliet because he is impatient, non supportive, and uncaring. Firstly, Capulet causes Juliet and Romeo’s deaths because of his impatience. He gets angry with his daughter very quickly, making her feel scared and unwanted. Juliet is afraid to negotiate with him, and her habit of mistrust and hiding the truth from her father kills her. Secondly, Capulet disowns Juliet when she rebukes his ideas, calling her “young baggage [and a] disobedient wretch.”(III.v.165)…

After comparing his music to modern art, where context helps to determine meaning, she spoke of how “his melodies and his lyrics are so wed together. As this book will demonstrate more fully, Sondheim has spoken often and freely about the music, theater, and films. The present book shows a particular bias toward analyzing Sondheim's music. Character is the most important element in the play because it makes up a story which is within the work of art. The characters builds a better understanding of the story that helps the audience relate to the it .This helps to develop analysis through out the story of the protagonist and the antagonist with their motivations.…

The Pillowman was the one of the 1st full plays I have seen. Personally, theatre has always been something I just never paid much attention too until my senior year of high school. However, sitting through this play was rather eye opening. I developed this appreciation for theatre. When I arrived at the forum I began looking at the program and the first thing I noticed was the amount of people who committed their time to the production.…

Over the centuries, theatre conventions evolved from the highly presentational performances of the Greeks to the extravagance of Elizabethan productions and eventually conglomerated to produce contemporary theatre. The University Playhouse’s performance of Acting: The First Six Lessons expressed this conglomeration of Greek and Elizabethan conventions through elements of presentational theatre, a non-localized set, and a supporting cast that functioned similar to a chorus or ensemble. This performance also altered conventions through the addition of female actors, use of representational aspects, adaption of the functions of the chorus or ensemble, and lack of a raised stage. In the following sections, I will discuss the adoption and adaptation…

Performance Analysis For Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew scene that our group had to perform, we made several key decisions in order to more accurately reflect the true personalities of our characters. These decisions affected the tone with which we spoke, the way did blocking on stage, the props in we used as well as the disguises we wore. To begin, our group decided it would be wise to go through the reading several times without acting out the scene first in order to get a feel for what kind of tone we should approach our lines with. Our scene begins with Bianca and Kathrina interacting with one another and, after reading carefully, we noticed that both sisters were in the midst of an argument.…

Intricate details on the scenery made the buildings feel authentic and inviting, grabbing my attention from the moment I walked in the theatre. The costuming was also fantastic, portraying the time period well and adding even more authenticity to the production. All of these individual aspects of a play production acted as an important role, but none of them caught my attention as much as the storyline. I was entwined in the story from the moment the stage lights came on, engulfing myself in the man-made atmosphere presented in front of me. The story went on to tell a tale of a greedy…
