Instead, companies expect employees to take responsibility for their own career. Essentially, there is no guarantee that an employer will give their employees a secure job and/or promotion. Therefore, employees frequently change jobs to receive a pay increase or advancement at another company. It is not expected for an employee to work only one job for their entire life however, if employees are continuously growing because they are constantly being trained, developed, and promoted they are likely to extend their stay with their current employer.
