This can be done by realizing that young adolescence are going through a lot of changes not only physically but socially as well and making material that is appropriate to those factors. This also goes along with understanding the cognitive and conceptual development during in this age group. To truly understand this one must also encourage students to do more and be more than what they will let themselves be. This is done by challenging; an educator by no means should just be giving the students work that is highly simple that the students will pass without much thought at all. Giving students work that they are familiar with is highly important and works as an “example” when it comes to cognitive processing, but work that work must also expand on what they already know and apply that knowledge different, thus creating a sort of challenge. It is what makes students and teachers grow and continue to do their part in education. The family should be a very large part and I believe that is what my short term goal as a teacher would be. I have heard even from the cooperating teachers I have been able to work with that building that connection with home can make a difference so I believe that if anything that should be what is worked and mastered within the first few years of teaching. After those few years I will then redirect my goal to be more focused on moving the students to a deeper view and more critical understanding of material by project-based and problem-based learning. I have, through several examples and research, found that project-based learning and problem-based learning are really effective especially when it comes to both math and science and subject areas. These two learning styles focus heavily on critical thinking and have a more lasting effect on students outside of the classroom because it is something in which they worked on extensively. Also doing this will allow me to work and practice to ensure that my classroom is in line with the four essential characteristics that an educator should follow in their
