Vincent Van Gogh As A Role Model

“I put my heart and soul into my work, and have lost my mind in the process.” This is one of many quotes made by Vincent Van Gogh, a famous artist from the 1800’s. He loved to paint, he believed painting and being an artist was his destiny; his calling. But sadly, he developed many mental and a few physical problems while fulfilling his destiny, thus why he lost his mind. But, he was not completely alone when these disorders happened, he had his brother, Theo, to help him. Theo encouraged Vincent’s painting. He tried to sell Vincent’s paintings, he even gave money to Vincent for food and paint, even if the food part was just used for paint. Vincent even nibbled on the dry paint chippings which caused one illness, lead poisoning. Some might think that because of how he spent his money, or how he has certain illnesses/disabilities, or how he made some choices, that he was not a very important person nor a very great role model. But many people don’t think the same thing, Vincent is a good role model for many people and has major importance in art even to this day. Some might say that Vincent is not a good role model because of some questionable things he has done in the past. Like cut off his ear or buy paint instead of food. Some may say that his work was done quick and sloppy, but many people get inspiration from this work. The technique Vincent used was new and different from any other artist’s works, inspiring others to also try new techniques whether it’s similar or different. Some of his paintings may have even inspired people who never even painted or drawn to start. So even though the painting might have been done quickly and had a different technique, does not mean that they were any less beautiful or
