As the main character in a story, it's important that the character is a three-dimensional character. Thus, being said, let's take a look at Stephen King's The Dark Tower: Gunslinger. The protagonist of this story is Roland Deschain who speaks High Speech. "The gunslinger walked stolidly, not hurrying, not loafing. After hearing this short speech, I analyzed John Moore’s topic “Fluent Talk on Stuttering” and gained some knowledge to what he was trying to impact us with. He wants us to know that adult stutterers can minimize their stubborn talk with different methods to speak more fluently with others. I believe this is essential to know for a variety of reasons. Only one percent of the world’s adult population stutter, including him, and can damage those who do in many ways. This vital information can help adult stutterers with the consequences they face such as emotions they undergo, the perception from others as they hear, and above all the words they find difficult to pronounce.…

In the speech, Phil Davison uses the fourth canon of Rhetoric (Delivery) clearly. He started the speech with good loud volume. He addressed his audiences clearly and introduced himself in a bold manner. He filled the room with his strong voice and covered the room. It also seems as if he had memorized the speech as he took a long pause before mentioning his master’s degree in communication.…

The short story “The Palace Thief”, by Ethan Canin, is about William Hundert, a history teacher at St. Benedict’s a prestigious private school, and his interactions with the Bell family. Infact his interactions with the Bells and one of his colleges, develops the central idea that one should not judge a book by it’s cover. This idea is exemplified by the characters Sedgewick Bell, Senator Bell, and Charles Ellerby. Sedgewick Bell, one of Hundert’s most troublesome students, shows that one should not judge a book by it’s cover. For example, when he is first introduced into the story, Sedgewick is described by Hundert as “a dull boy”(pg.156).…

The character in a story is the main foundation in any story, essay, or any other form of writing. These characters not only give the writing a purpose, but present the irony, symbols, and conflicts in the stories. Without the main character there would not be any sort of writing. The main character may also be dynamic, which means the change as the story goes on, or they may be flat, which meants that they don’t change. From the many stories we read in our class, I fell in love with the character Rochelle, from the story “The Bride” by author Christine Granados.…

It makes the author write every detail so brilliantly and so exact you feel like you are sinking into every page you read.…

On his journey, just as Childe Roland seems to have lost all hope, he encounters a large black bird which he decides must have been sent to him as a guide; in Watchman, Jack finds Jean Louise at her darkest moments and offers cryptic advice to rationalize the absurdities she has encountered since her return to Maycomb. Jack is represented in the poem by this bird in the way that he is the one to explain to Jean Louise what has been going on, and to help her to resolve the issues she has been having during her visit. Throughout the novel, Jean Louise has essentially been wandering in darkness, unstable and unsure where to go. She remembers that Uncle Jack had told her “Come to me. When you can’t stand it any longer, come to me” (Watchman 259).…

Secondly, if the outer space is the physical representation of Roland’s inner psyche then one could say that these nightmarish places are the representation of his broken mind. For example, the main feature of the land is the wasteland. As in the ninth stanza Roland says: “Than, pausing to throw backward a last view/O’er the safe road, ‘t was gone; gray plain all round:” (IX. 3-4), which another possible clue that Roland is mad, as there is nothing left behind him, only a wasteland. It could be a sense of recovery too as all bridges have been burnt up behind him, so the past is no longer an option for him.…
