On January 8, 1902 Carl Rogers was born in the small town of Oak Park in Illinois. He was one of 6 children of Walter Rogers and Julia Cushing family. Rogers went to a Christian school as a child. As he got older he had made plans to go to the University of Wisconsin-Madison and major in aduculter, minoring in history and religion. In school, as most college students do, he ended up changing his major to religion. In 1924 Rogers got his four year bachelor’s degree. Afterwords rogers transferred to Columbia University Teachers College and earned his master’s in 1928 and in 1931 even went on to get his PhD in clinical psychology.
