Roger Federer, the greatest tennis player ever, was born on August 8 of 1981 in the city of Basel, Switzerland. Federer grew up in the municipalities of Birsfelden, Riehen, and Münchenstein which all are close to the French and german border. He is an authentic, modest, and loyal man as he describes himself. Many describe him as a class act man and he is also very humble. Not many know the impact he has outside tennis but he believes in the potential of everyone.

Federer is married since 2009 to Mirka Vavrinec who is a former WTA player who had to retired due to a foot injury in 2002. That year they become parents of two twin girls, Myla and Charlene, and on May 6, 2014, they welcome another set of twins, now boys, Leo and Lenny. He is son

In 2003, he founded the Roger Federer Foundation, a program which assists kids in Africa to be able to go to school and permits them access to a high quality education. The foundation priority is the assistance of insufficient support services to vulnerable children who live in poor or rural conditions. It does not mean that they deliver equipment, but they empower them to have control of their life by education. The program currently has around 309,000 children and it is in 7 different countries, Botswana, Malawi, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Switzerland. He has inspired many people and Bill Gates, founder of Microsoft Corporation, is one of them. “Twice I’ve had the thrill of being his doubles partner to help raise money for his foundation, and we’ve become friends in the process. I’ve learned how sincerely Roger and his team are working to improve the life prospects for poor children—a mission that stems from his childhood visits to his mother’s home country of South Africa and seeing extreme poverty firsthand,” Bill Gates on Roger Federer for TIME. In his last visit to Zambia on April 26, the community was excited to meet him but not for being a famous athlete.
