Roger was very lucky as he was born into a wealthy family and was able to get all of his desired education. Although his family, being landowners, had reservations too giving their land too their eldest child. That being said Roger was not the eldest in his family so would not partake in the ownership of their land, therefore he was supposed to become a priest. Instead at the age of 13 Roger was submitted to the Oxford University as his secondary school, and stayed there for the rest of his education. Mr. Bacon finished off his education by getting a masters degree, which he then began teaching at the same school, Oxford University up until 1241
