Roge: A Short Story

Great Essays
Luckily, Roge was good at fighting, dealing considerable damage to their foes. Unluckily, Roge could only manage this for five seconds before he was overrun, letting seven of Cuthe's friends get past him in hot pursuit of James.

James bolted down the hallway at his fastest speed looking for any way to escape his pursuers. Colored fliers melted into a blur around him as his arms pumped, propelling him forward. He dared a look back, and to his dismay, they were gaining on him.
WHAT! GAINING! I’m going to have to take a detour…. Sorry my good professors…
He spied the classroom up ahead, the familiar obsidian-tipped arrows on the door marked

Military unit or not, they were going down.
It’s go time. When the group rounded the corner, James chucked the vile at the ground sending the potion splattering all over the place. He could see it sticking to the skin of his assailants, sort of bending toward them like a magnet. The effect caught on immediately, but instead of running into walls, they collapsed on the spot.
Terror and shock flooded James. They just dropped. No running into walls, they just collapsed. He had no idea of what these unforeseen effects did, how it would affect them, if it was contagious or anything. He watched helplessly as their eyes rolled up into the backs of their skulls. He extended his hand to help, but retracted it too late, the goop slurping up and touching him like a moth to a very bright flame. The effects acted almost immediately. His vision blurred, fractured, and changed color as he staggered toward Detoy’s

Maybe he could get to Detoy after all. It took him two whole minutes, but he finally made to the doorway. The brass doorknob was cold and heavy, the great door it belonged to was a large and dark oak wood entryway, embroidered with gold lining that angled charmingly at the edges. He smiled as a flood of memories came flowing back to him. This door was a safe place, a wonderful haven of shelter, as this door was the portal to relaxedness. Studied for a test but couldn’t pass it? That door was always open with a warm blanket and a cup of hot coco waiting for you. Relationship problems? Door. Needed someone to listen to your crazy ideas? The door was always open.
He turned the knob, gently pushing the door ajar. The smell of pine and fine carpeting greeted him, the feeling of safety enveloped him. He had done it.
It was all crushed under a thousand pounds of pain as William Argus Cuthe’s’ voice cut through the air. James felt a huge lunge as he was carelessly tossed to the ground. His vision finally faded watching as Cuthe’s’ face sneered down at

It was a cold day in November 1959. Fog was covering the ground of the cemetery but every once in a while, the drops of rain and people passing by would separate the fog to reveal soft mushy ground, covered with a light layer of snow. You could hear the thump every time someone took a step, as everyone in the area gathered around a gravestone. “Shame she died” said a cop. His uniform was soaked and covered in food stains and he looked like he hadn’t exercised in a year.…

    1. " The youth kept the bright colors to the front. He was waving his free arm in furious circles, the while shrieking mad calls and appeals, urging on those that did not need to be urged, for it seemed that the mob of blue men hurling themselves on the dangerous group of rifles were again grown suddenly wild with an enthusiasm of unselfishness. From the many firings starting toward them, it looked as if they would merely succeed in making a great sprinkling of corpses on the grass between their former position and the fence. But they were in a state of frenzy, perhaps because of forgotten vanities, and it made an exhibition of sublime recklessness.…

The first time I ever painted with acrylics was in the waiting room of the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center. Empty chairs surrounded me, a deafening silence enveloped, ringing with disquietude. I felt small. That is, until the sound of the metal door hinges unapologetically scraping broke the leaden lull.…

Film acting at its core is designed to replicate the way we, humans, naturally behave to a certain degree. Certain films may feature characters more believable than others on their exterior, but an essential quality of nearly every protagonist is to be imperfect. Just as humans are flawed on an individual basis, characters in film have their own unique set of disadvantages. Because of this, we see a reflection of ourselves in the character as they are always looking to improve themselves or overcome a major conflict in some cases. A flawless protagonist leaves nothing to be accomplished, nothing to gain, and nothing to overcome.…
