Rodney King Case The Rodney King case is an event in history that created mass hysteria in the city of Los Angeles in the town of south central. In 1991 Mr. King was in a high speed chase that took place on a highway in Los Angeles. When Rodney King was finally stopped he was brutally beat by four police officers. The results of the police officers sentencings created riots in L.A.
Rodney king was 25 years old, and an unemployed construction worker with two children. Rodney King was driving on the foothill freeway, with him in his 1988 Hyundai was two of his friends. Mr.King was caught by L.A.P.D. on the foothill freeway in Los Angeles on March 3, 1991. Officers pulled him out of his car and without any hesitation the four police officers brutally beat Mr. King, while George Holliday videotaped the whole event. Rodney King was almost beat to death by four police men. All four police officers struck Mr. King at least fifty times each. Mr. King was beat with knight sticks by each police officer. The jury had no african americans, ten white people, one hispanic, and one asian person. Most of the african americans were furious with the event because this was police brutality, and most thought it was a hate crime on african americans. The case lasted about three months, and the end result of the case made most african american furious. Two of the police officers were found guilty and charged with criminal offense and also charged with deadly weapon. The other two police officers were not found guilty and made african americans furious of that decision the court made.
