Rodney King beating was a horrendous act that happened in Los Angeles, California, on March 3, 1991. It was an act that involved 15 police officers and King. And this incident was caught on camera by an amateur recorder, if it hadn’t been recorded by this civilian we may not have known the situation or outcome. Due to the video, it captured the police officers using excessive force on King for a high-speed chase. Excessive beating and kicking resulted in “11 skull fractures, a broken cheekbone, a fractured eye socket, a broken ankle, missing teeth, kidney damage, external burns, and permanent brain damage” (Kappeler, Sluder, and Alpert, 1994: 146).
