The first article was written by Rod Dreher, who is a senior editor of The American Conservative magazine. In this article, Dreher mainly expressed his opinion towards relationship between Christians and homosexuality. After Southern Baptist leader Russell Moore expressed his sympathy towards L.G.B.T. group in relate to Orlando event, a gay writer argues that unless that the conservative Christians change their minds about the L.G.B.T. community, the solidarity is meaningfulness. Dreher states that it is crude to attribute religious beliefs on marriage and other rights to hate by demonizing dissent. All those turns L.G.B.T. advocates into heretic hunters. A lot of Christians treated gays badly, and some of the still do now. The Bible gives …show more content…
As an editor for The American Conservative magazine, Dreher expressed his view that the advance of L.G.B.T. rights means a corresponding loss of religious liberty. He called the link of Orlando shooting to Christians and Republicans a shameless. opportunism. Different than author Rodgers who has a positive view towards solidarity, he thinks this solidarity is worthless unless the Christians change their minds. He definitely seems to hold the most pessimistic view among all the authors. Julie Rodgers as an advocator for L.G.B.T. people in the church, and as part of the L.G.B.T. community is definitely more supportive than the rest authors. She clearly realized the discrimination among the Christians against the gay community. Rodgers stated that although many Christians are beginning to help telling good stories about the gay community, there is still a long way to go which responds author David P. Gushee’s view about the future of L.G.B.T. community. Jim Daly as a president of Focus on the Family and host of a daily broadcast, is less bigotry on this issue. He showed his empathy for L.G.B.T. community, but also shared his own view towards gay people. I really liked his courage to express his opinion that same-sex marriage is a sin though I might not agree with him. One of my close friends who is Christian expressed the same idea as him, that you have to trust in a whole. He also argues that in the future, Christians will face increasingly choice between their beliefs and laws. David P. Gushee, who wrote a book calls for full inclusion of L.G.B.T. Christians in the church, is definitely expressing the similar view as Rodgers, they all pointed out the problem of L.G.B.T. group being demeaned to the second-class position. He holds a different view than Jim Daly, which he believes that the Christians should fully accept the L.G.B.T. community instead of part acceptance. I gained a lot of

In class, the phrase, “Love the Sinner, Hate the Sin,” came up and made me think deeper about homosexuals as people rather than as sinners. We discussed that the right thing to do when put in a situation that we may not agree with or believe in, is to love and respect the person/ people regardless because they are still our brothers and sisters in Christ. Whether we agree with a homosexual lifestyle or not, God made us to love one another as he loves us and he made each and everyone one of us in his own image. The author of this book also addressed, in chapters six through eight, the problem of communication and understanding one another. He referred to the communication between Christians…

Rev. Franklin Graham has been voicing out against U.S. President Barack Obama’s order to give transgender access to public school restrooms, but now he has upped the heat in the LGBT debate by urging his followers to be willing to be martyred for their “intolerant” beliefs. In a Facebook message posted on Sunday, Rev. Franklin Graham asked his followers about the things or principles that they would be willing to take a bullet for. Citing the biblical story of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego who chose to be thrown into a fiery furnace rather than bow down before King Nebuchadnezzar’s idol, the evangelist said Christians should be willing to martyr themselves or subject themselves to God’s wrath, Raw Story relays. “What would you take a bullet for?”…

In the book “Virtually Normal” by Andrew Sullivan published by Vintage Books, Sullivan talk about different political parties and their views on homosexuality. Andrew is in no means justifying the views of homosexuality in terms of political viewpoints, in fact, he himself is a gay man. This book shows the political views of prohibitionists, liberationists, conservatives, and liberals. Prohibitionists believe that homosexuality does not exist, Liberationists believe that homosexuals should be free of a title, Conservatives choose to not side with right or wrong when discussing homosexuality, and Liberals think that being homosexual can either be a privilege or a way of victimization. This book was very eye opening because it showed how different…

Gays have been fighting for their equal rights since the beginning of time. People seem to always have a problem with homosexuals serving our U.S. military whether they are Christian or Atheist, although they do not seem to care as long as they don’t know about the person’s sexual preference. Grace Baptist Church kindly welcomed my attendance to the first religious service I have been to in over a decade. Each member is actively involved in the church community as well as local charities. Overall positive, the experience enlightened my comprehension of the congregation’s convictions pertaining to religious values and where they are derived from. Pleasantly greeted as well as given a compassionately farewell the members of the church treated me with the utmost respect. Nonetheless, members do not always welcome individuals nicely, such as those within the LGBTQ+ community are not readily accepted as easily.…

Religion and the LGBT community are two groups that tend to clash; however, in reality there should not be a divider between the two as faith continually proves God’s unconditional love for His children. The essay “Gay Marriage: Our Mutual Joy,” by Lisa Miller, explains to the readers the truths behind the Bible and about God’s love towards homosexuality. In comparison, the article “The Religious People Who Give Us Hope,” by Stevie St. John, displays several religious leaders supporting the LGBT community by sharing the true nature of God. Both “Gay Marriage: Our Mutual Joy” and “The Religious People Who Give Us Hope for Religion” make evident of the unconditional love and acceptance of God that is freely given to all His children.…

The early morning hours on June 28th 1969 marked the beginning of a new era for the gay rights movement. The Stonewall Inn, at the time one of the few establishments that openly welcomed the gay demographic, was raided by the police. Subsequently, a riot erupted amongst the arrested crowd – the first time that the gay population had protested a police raid. The incident incited several more violent demonstrations in the following days, which have been famously dubbed as the Stonewall riots. The series of riots are often regarded as the sole catalyst for the modern gay rights movement.…
