In Rocky Mountain Middle School, there are only bathrooms for men and women. We should have gender neutral bathrooms in our school. If we had gender neutral bathrooms in our school, it would make genderqueer (transgender and non-binary) questioning students and feel much safer and better represented in their own school.

Going into single gender bathrooms can cause anxiety, fear, and other stresses for genderqueer students. They could be targeted by cisgender students, and experience verbal and physical harassment. Transgender people are almost nine times more likely to attempt suicide than cisgender people. Mental health

Transgender people should use the bathroom that matches their gender identity. It is unsafe for trans * people to go into the restroom that matches the gender they were born as. If a trans* male (ftm) were to go into the women’s restroom looking and passing as a cis male it could be very dangerous and/or chaotic. Women would most likely panic because you don’t always know when someone is trans* and they would think it’s just a man.…

In our current times many prejudices against any abnormalities to the “two” genders are very controversial. As we have seen many people have been arguing about the Transgenders’ rights to their own self identification. I am impartial about the subject, but I do understand where both sides are coming from. This weeks reading has shown us the side of American culture where doctors at birth fix any genital abnormalities to the child to match what gender they may be. This is controversial because it potentially is a mistake as the minds are not developed and their sense of self may have been consistent with their gender “abnormalities,” many parents are pushed by the Doctor to treat and force upon their child to act in ways they wanted the gender to be.…
