Rocky Mount Correctional Facility’s mission is to have a secure and safe place for inmates and staff. Our goal is to rehabilitate the inmates so they can return to society as an accomplished and socially rehabilitated person. Our leadership and involvement in our communities are very important to this facility. Our facility is a credited facility by the American Correctional Association. Emergency and safety procedures are our first priority her at the Rocky Mount Correctional Facility. Everyone that is an inmate or staff has to sign a document showing they understand these measures that we request. The American Correctional Association
Often times there are the mentally challenged inmates that have issues that need to be addressed. We have the staff that is adequately trained to handle these individuals. Everyone has the opportunity to make their

The two escaped from the Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora, New York. The concrete walls on Clinton Correctional Facility are 30 feet high.
The population at the Clinton Facility is around 2,900 and growing. It is a maximum facility for men. This facility like other ones was believed to be escape proof. That was proven wrong but it probably would not have happened without the help of Joyce Mitchell.
This is an example of the security breach and staff disobeying what they were supposed to uphold and not get involved in. They took extra precautions when building that facility. Most facilities have barbed wire fences around them. The Rocky Mount Facility has two 30 foot concrete walls and barbed wire fences in between them. They are serious about safety.
