Rocky Horror Show: Review

Rocky Horror Show Review Rocky Horror Show most definitely lived up to the sense of style it should have had. There was much sexual humor present throughout the show especially from the actors that sat in the audience. They kept up the sexual humor so the actors on stage could go somewhere with their scene and create a plot. There was much audience interaction because of the prop bags (that was a great way to help the audience be involved), and with the whole play starting with Magenta in the audience and ending with the dancers doing the Time Warp in the aisles. It lived up to the naughtiness with a lot of skin and even a pole number, and I could see how this would have shocked people when it debuted, it even shocked me in present time. …show more content…
There was enough different movement to keep the audience interested but there were enough repeated movements as to not distract from the singing. The movement was not elaborate but that is good so that the singers would not get breathy and sound bad. I liked that there were a lot of formation changes in every musical number because it allowed every dancer to be seen in the front and to show off different costumes with different movements. The singing was good overall. Riff Raff was my favorite singer because he had a nice clear voice and could hit some challenging skips and slides up and down the octaves. Brad, Frank, and Riff Raff all sang from their diaphragms and had nice support to be able to hold out some ending notes. Janet and Brad had nice harmony when they sang together but Janet could work on singing with her diaphragm more especially because her solo at the start of the second act was breathy and she was not sticking the notes well. Magenta sang very well I thought she did a great job opening and closing the show but I did not like Columbia’s voice. I know she was supposed to sing in her annoying voice but I felt like it was not supported and sounded like …show more content…
The lighting was good when the thunder storm came with the flickering lights and overall they were appropriate colors for the music numbers and helped highlight the costumes and skin tones instead of drowning them out. However I thought the music was too loud on some of the musical numbers like Eddie’s because I could not fully hear the singer. In addition I thought the music was more light and upbeat like pop instead of metal. I really did not gain the sense of metal from the

All I can say is, the story had somewhat of a quicker pace and sometimes harder to follow and small details could easily be missed, and the lighting was a tiny bit distracting when it flashed across the stage quickly. The use of sound effects was used to signify different things that caught the attention of the viewers and really added a special touch to the play. The play showcased beautiful and stunning singing which made the play more authentic, combined with the elaborate dances numbers truly made the show breathtaking and…

The first act primarily gave a background on how those townsfolk settled on Oklahoma Territory. It also illustrated Curly’s pursuit of Laurey, and Ado Annie’s love triangle. The second act was the true execution of everybody’s motives. Curly defeats Jud and wins Laurey over and Will Parker finally earns back $50 to take Ado Annie as his wife. I think the rhythm was smooth and cohesive.…

Every time I think of Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, the first thing that comes into my mind is, “POPULISM YEA YEA!” When I saw Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson for the first time at the Clayton Performing Arts Center, I was very impressed with the overall production of such a complex, extreme play. In detail, I plan to discuss the fantastic key components that the director included such as: the overall overview, performance, and design layout that ultimately allows individuals, like me, to get a better understanding of the play Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson. In the play of Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, the main goal of the play was to tell the life story of Andrew Jackson through an emo, rock, satirical way.…

‘’ An experience. ‘’ The movie of ‘Tomorrow’, but as everyone knows it Annie, this musical was based on a comic strip, Little Orphan Annie, created by Harold Gray in the early 1900’s. It is fact that originally the playwright Thomas Meehan was a bit hesitant of creating a musical based on a comic, but in fact it was Martin Charnin the director also lyricist who had this idea, in this case persistence paid off when eventually Thomas and the composer Charles Strouse agreed. The production of Annie was first performed at the Alvin Theatre which is now the Neil Simon Theatre in 1977 on April the 21st.…

The presentation, aptly named Manya after Marie Curie Sklodowska’s childhood nickname, was an impressive story telling of the life up to the beginnings of World War I of the Nobel Prize winning Chemist and Physicist Marie Curie Sklodowska. The presentation itself took place in Boettcher lecture hall 102 but was dressed up nicely to match important periods in the life of Marie Curie. The set consisted of a small table which held several notebooks and correspondence that were of import to Curie, such as those containing her Husband's notes and records on her daughter's height, weight, and cranial circumference. The second part of the set was a table containing all of Curies equipments for discovering polonium and radium. Concerningly, one of…

I loved the concert I selected because all the performers had different genres which allowed me to hear a little bit of everything. I enjoyed all the performances and all the performers had amazing voices. Sara Bareilles and Alison Krauss were my favorite performers. They have voices like angels and when they sang it gave me goosebumps and I wanted to just sing along, but I sang in my head because I can not sing. I liked all of the performers except for O Tu Palermo from Vespri because I couldn’t understand what he was saying because it was in a different…

Singin’ in the Rain (1952) directed by Gene Kelly and Stanley Donen is one of Hollywood’s most famous musicals. As a big fan of musicals, it’s surprising that I have never seen this infamous film. I had preconceived notions about what it would be like and I thought that I wouldn’t enjoy it. However, the movie was nothing like that I thought it would be and I enjoyed the “behind the scenes” style of film that the director used to show the transition between silent films to talkie.…

I learned a lot about the choreographers in the performance by the way they presented themselves. Presentation means a lot and the way they proceeded was professional.
